![]() | 40 Days of Prayer, Fasting and Penance for Unity and Healing Lent is a season of 40 days of prayer, fasting, and penance in preparation for Easter. Like Jesus, in preparation for a major event in His life, we take 40 days of our lives and go into the desert for prayer, fasting and penance. This year the 40 days will begin on Wednesday, March 5th, and end on Wednesday, April 16th. We want to dedicate this Lenten season to unity and healing in our parish. A host of opportunities are available to you to help you stay focused on this 40 day Lenten journey. Prayer can be personal or communal. Prayer can be spoken or silent. Fasting can be from food but it can also be from other pleasures or distractions. Penance can start with the Sacrament of Reconciliation but also includes action to cure relationships.
