Please welcome Father John Matejek to his new home in Fairfield Glade and to his new parish family here at Saint Francis of Assisi.
We are deeply blessed to have Father John Matejek and his family join Saint Francis of Assisi Parish. Father is a retired priest from the Archdiocese of Atlanta and is now living with his sister, Michele Platt, and his brother-in-law, Tom Platt, here in Fairfield Glade.
Prior to becoming a priest, Father served in the State House of Representatives in Illinois. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2003 for the Atlanta Archdiocese by Archbishop John Donoghue at the Cathedral of Christ the King. Father was active in the Knights of Columbus and served as the State Chaplain for the state of Georgia.
Father John will be a huge assest here at Saint Francis since he is making himself available for Masses whenever the need arises. Specifically, he will celebrate Mass every Tuesday and will make himself available for confessions.
Father enjoys celebrating the holy Mass which he states brings him great joy and great joy to the people of God. He also takes to the confessional as often as possible to help cleanse the immortal souls of the faithful just as St. John Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests.
